Fencing Materials

Our fencing is crafted primarily from high-quality pressure treated timber, chosen for its strength, longevity, and natural beauty. Pressure treated wood undergoes a specialised process where preservatives are forced deep into the timber under high pressure. This treatment, often referred to as tanalising, enhances the wood’s resistance to rot, mould, fungus, and insect infestation, making it an ideal choice for outdoor use.

This durability ensures that our fences can withstand the elements and maintain their structural integrity for many years, with minimal maintenance. The treatment also helps retain the timber’s appearance, reducing the risk of decay and extending the lifespan of your fence compared to untreated wood.

In addition to its durability, our pressure treated timber offers a clean, natural look that can complement any garden or outdoor space. It can be left to weather naturally for a rustic appearance or stained or painted to suit your style.

Measuring & Planning Your Fence

Proper planning is key to ensuring a secure, well-fitted fence that meets your needs. Here’s how to get started:

1. Measuring the Boundary
Begin by measuring the full length of the area you want to fence. Use a measuring tape or a measuring wheel for accuracy. Take note of any changes in terrain or obstacles such as trees, walls, or existing structures that might affect the layout.

2. Post Spacing Guidelines
Fence posts should typically be spaced 6ft (1.8m) apart, which is the standard width for most fence panels. This ensures proper support and prevents panels from sagging over time. For taller or heavier fences, you may want to reduce the spacing slightly for added stability.

3. Calculating Panels & Posts
To calculate how many panels and posts you’ll need:

Divide the total length of your boundary by the width of your panels (usually 6ft/1.8m). You’ll need one post more than the number of panels. For example, 10 panels require 11 posts.

4. Factoring in Gates and Corners

Gates: Deduct the width of any gate from your total measurement before calculating panel quantities. Each gate will require its own support posts.
Corners: For every corner, you’ll need a post that can support panels at an angle. Consider using corner or end posts depending on your layout.

Taking the time to measure and plan accurately will save effort and ensure a neat, professional finish.
